(All of these makeup that I used I got for free :D I’m not stupid to spend thousands of pesos on makeup. NO!)

thoughts put into words

I don’t get…

why everything should be complicated. Why can’t people just say what they want to say? Why should always there be assumptions when there’s really nothing to assume?  They’re just making themselves think about situations that should just be left alone. Problem is they’re afraid to risk…but do they really have a choice? Why do they want to get stuck and not move forward? UGH. Sometimes I wish I could transfer into another person’s body and do the job for them.. its just so frustrating -_- seeing them hurt because they are unable to do anything. Isn’t life about making choices and embracing changes?

I don’t get it…

why people can’t make decisions and just get on with it…

FINALS FOR CREATIVE WRITING —-AN INTERVIEW

World Youth Day: A Journey of Faith

By: Mary Gabriel Raymundo 2A1- Advertising

Each of the Pilgrims had their own reasons of going to Madrid.  Some went to the World Youth Day to see the pope, some just merely wanted to go to another country and enjoy its sceneries and culture and some were in expectation of what truly was their calling or God’s plan for them.

These 3 youths are all in the Neo Catechuminal Way of St. Francis, a community in which they journey in finding Christ in their lives and meeting Him with hope and expectations.

I started my interview with Andee Balmaceda, a fourth year student in Miriam College taking up SPED. Her reasons of going were to see the pope and to hear the catechesis of Kiko Arguello, the man who started the Neo Catechuminal way.

“Nung nag fufundraising nga kami nawawalan na ko ng gana kasi parang ang dami naming pupunta tapos ang mahal ng pamasahe.” She said. “Pero meant to be talaga ee na makapunta ako”.

She had a lot of worries before going to Madridand even thought of backing out while they were still in the airport with her family.

“Graduating na kasi ako, so ang hirap. Pero God made my schedule work out and ang babait ng mga professors dahil din siguro officer ako sa school.”

Her highlights of the World Youth Day were the meeting with the pope and the catechesis of Kiko as a catechuminate. She had seen a lot of people from different race, backgrounds and cultures.

“Yung mga makikilala mong tao don, alam mo na they have their own reasons of being there.” She said. “Nakakainspire kasi parang, uy! Nafeel din nila yung nafeel ko kung bakit ako nandito and to think na marami silang bagay na puwede pang gawin at lugar na puwedeng puntahan pero nandito sila”.

She said that the meeting with the pope happened at the  Cuatro Vientos Airport  so there was really a lot of space.

“Ang struggle lang talaga don ay malayo yung bilihan ng pagkain at banyo.”

All of the people there were so inspired with the pope that they didn’t leave despite of the heat.

“Umulan pa nga ee, pero wala talagang umalis, kasi parang, andito na tayo ee, baback out ka pa ba?”.

The meeting with Kiko was for her the hardest because they had to close the streets so the space was limited but it was also the best experience.

“The day when we went to see Kiko iniisip ko kung bakit ba ko pumunta dito? Kase as in wala, hindi ko alam wala akong reason of going there.” She said. “I mean, uuwi na kami pero wala pa rin ako natatanggap na salita.”

She was struggling to know what God’s message was for her. It was the last day before they were to leave.

“Ang dami kong angal, kase ang init tapos nakakapagod.” She said. “But everything changed during the meeting with Kiko”.

What really struck her was when Kiko said that everyone should have a cross to carry. “Kailangan kasi nating mamatay para muling mabuhay.” It is by dying that we see the Glory of God and it is by living that we proclaim His word. “Mahirap ang World Youth Day, pero masaya at worth it.” She said with a smile on her face.

Andee’s sister Paola Balmaceda, a graduate of Ateneo de Manila University also went to the World Youth Day. It was her first time and she heard a lot of stories about it. She wanted to hear the message of the pope and she wanted to find meaning in her life, her vocation. She wanted to understand what God’s plan for her life and so she took the chance and went to Madrid.

“Maganda kasi diba makikita mo talaga yung mga tao doon na you share one faith with them.” She said. “Ee hindi ko naman mashashare yun with my friends here, kasi ang weird pag usapan.”

It really felt good for her to see those people that were also looking for meaning in their lives.

“Ang sarap ng feeling kasi, makikita mo na hindi ka nag-iisa.”

One of the highlights of her trip was the meeting with the pope.

“Kasi dun, as in sobrang daming tao pero sobrang tahimik lalo na pag nagdadasal. It was a good experience kasi puwede pa lang mangyari yung ganun.”

The biggest highlight of her experience was living with a Spanish Family that is also walking in theNeo Catechumenal Way. They have 11 children and despite of this, they are very happy with their lives.

“Yung parents nga nashare sa amin na gusto nila dalawa lang anak nila pero when they met Christ nag decide sila to be open to life.” She said. “Sinabi nila na yung doubts of how they were going to feed all their 11 children pero in the end they conquered that fear with Christ kasi sobrang saya nilang family because everything was provided for them.”

This took a toll on Paola’s experience because in Madrid they were experiencing the same thing.

“Nung nandun kasi kami everything was given to us. Parang ang hirap makipag usap kasi hindi sila marunong mag English so yung communication namin parang sign language.”

They were not oriented of what to do or what they were in store for. They just went to Madrid and embraced the precariousness that they experienced.

“Ang galing kasi we understood each other nung 10 days that we stayed there and we survived.”

In the normal life Paola worries about a lot of things like her job since she was just a fresh graduate but seeing those people especially the family that they stayed with for 10 days inMadrid, she saw that God truly works in mysterious ways. You just have to give yourself and trust Him and everything will follow.

Ruth Pizarro, a graduate ofUniversity ofSanto Tomas also went to the World Youth Day. Her parents are both itinerants in Leyte and Masbate. They offered their lives to God so that they can evangelize people in different places. Ruth’s purpose of going to Madrid is to confirm and find the will of God for her.

“Hindi ko kayang mag journey alone.” She said. “Kailangan ko si Christ”.

In everyday situations there are always complaints and we cannot deny that fact. We tend to be ungrateful for the blessings that God is giving us.

“There are struggles and pumapasok ako lagi sa kasalanan, hindi naman maiiwasan yon.” She said with a laugh. “There is always the pride, judging people and there are things that I cannot accept in my life.”

Ruth has a vocation of entering the convent but it has been a struggle for her.

“There are times that I want to give up”. She said. “Kasi syempre gusto ko rin na umasenso, gusto ko rin na magkapamilya. Pero tinawag ako ee, at alam ko na sa will ng Diyos din ako magiging masaya.”

During the World Youth Day there was this monastery that they visited and she had seen that these nuns also have their own struggles.

“Hindi naman kasi purkit nasa kumbento ka, hindi ka na magkakasala” she said. “kaya kailangan din ng dasal ng mga taong ito, hindi lang sila yung nagdadasal para sa atin.” When Ruth came back to the Philippines her vocation got stronger but it was not really confirmed.

“Hindi pa talaga na confirm yung bokasyon ko doon, pero nakita ko na bibigyan ka ng Diyos ng ispirito na sundin ang kanyang plano.”

We can never really surrender ourselves in the Will of God without His help. We need Him and that is what prayers are for.

The World Youth Day was indeed a success as it is every 2 years. It has always been the way of the youth gathering together in celebration of one faith in Christ. In our time today it is hard for the youth to see the glory of Jesus Christ because of their liberation and the so many contributing factors to it but the church is still fighting so that morality and faith may still reign in the hearts of the youth and of all the people around the world. The 3 youths that I interviewed had different reasons of going and had different experiences but they went home with the most precious gift in hand, and that is—faith.

THE IRONY OF IT ALL

Funny how people expect who they want you to be, when they themselves do not reach the standards that they’re setting.

It’s like when an elderly tells you that you are nothing when in reality they themselves have nothing since they’re alone, lonely and well, bitter -_-

Like how your parents tell you to not answer back when they’re questioning you and start shouting at your face.

or how people want you to change when they cannot change themselves.

Life is just so ironic… I sometimes just want to hit my head because maybe I’ll be able to understand why people can’t just mind their own fucking business and just fucking move on with their fucked up lives. UUUGGGHH..

Up Dharma Down

I do not know what’s happening to me because I’m starting to really get addicted to this band…their songs are just amazing. It’s like music for the soul :)) I particularly fell in love with Oo and tadhana. These songs are just so rich and deep that I find myself dwelling on them -_- they’re just so full of emotions.

These songs somehow inspire me to write in Tagalog. Maybe the next post you’ll see will be in Tagalog :)) I realized how incredible our language is, how it can describe how a person feels in so many ways possible.

It is just so damn amazing. I was not a fan of Filipino songs especially the songs in our generation. I find them typical and sometimes stupid. There are Filipino songs in the past that really are rich in music and words and I think Up Dharma Down will again bring back that uniqueness in Filipino music. Kudos to them! :D
